THE SURF
Colorados is a classic, well-shaped beachbreak with rivermouth groomed sandbars. It breaks best on mid tides, but can be good on any tide, depending on swell. Known for playful tubes, but can get big and it holds size to triple overhead. If you didn’t already know, this region of Nicaragua gets all-day offshore winds 300 days out of the year, so when there's swell the surf is good. And there's a lot of swell.
Ponga Drops is a collection of A-frame reefbreaks. The waves break outside and inside, with long rights and lefts, and big walls and shoulders for performance surfing for all tastes - climbing and dropping, fades and cutbacks, ripping and cruising. The Ponga Drops waves often reform on the inside into juicy racetrack section sections for tubes and airs. And the peaks are all spread out so it's the place to go to avoid crowds.
